Sports funding 2016 -17
We expect to receive sports funding of £9985.00 to support sport at Castle Academy. This money is to support sports development in schools and could be used to pay for the professional development of staff, professional coaching, sports equipment and competition entry.
As a school, we have a contract with Back of the Net to provide all pupils with at least 2hrs of sports coaching a week. This year this contract has been extend to provide a full time sports coach, who in addition to running coaching sessions, will run extra-curricular sports sessions every day and offer professional development sessions to all members of staff to ensure high quality and effective professional development opportunities.
In addition to this each year Castle Academy runs an Activity week in the summer term during which pupils experience more unusual sports such as archery, curling and climbing.
100% of pupils receive high quality sports coaching every week
100% of teaching staff will receive at least two CPD sessions on PE lessons through the academic year
9 extra-curricular sports clubs will run each week.
Castle Academy will participate in a wide range of local sporting competitions including football, tag rugby, basketball, netball, athletics, gymnastics, dance, tri-golf, hockey.
Castle Academy has been awarded the bronze award Sports Mark.
